The eligibility criteria for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination are detailed as follows:

1. Nationality/ Citizenship

A candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India. Such candidates must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

2. Age Limit

Candidates applying for SSC CGL Examination (Tier-I) should fall within the following age limits, depending on the category of posts:

  • 18-27 years: Auditor, Accountant, Junior Accountant, Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, Senior Secretariat Assistant, Upper Division Clerk, Senior Administrative Assistant, Tax Assistant, Sub Inspector
  • 18-30 years: Assistant, Assistant Section Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, Inspector, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Executive Assistant, Research Assistant, Divisional Accountant, Sub Inspector, Junior Intelligence Officer
  • 18-32 years: Junior Statistical Officer
  • 20-30 years: Assistant Section Officer, Sub Inspector

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years
  • Defence Personnel disabled in operations: 3 years (8 years for SC/ST)
  • Central Govt. Civilian Employees (General/SC/ST): Up to 40/45 years
  • Widows/Divorced Women: Up to 35/40 years

3. Educational Qualifications

  • Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree with at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th standard level, or Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as a subject.
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as a subject.
  • Research Assistant (NHRC): Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
  • All Other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

4. Physical Standards for Specific Posts

Physical standards vary for posts like Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector (CBI, NIA, Narcotics Control Bureau). Candidates must meet these requirements including height, chest, and vision standards, which are conducted by respective departments.

Example:

  • Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer):
    • Male Candidates: Height 157.5 cm, Chest 81 cm (with 5 cm expansion)
    • Female Candidates: Height 152 cm, Weight 48 kg
    • Physical tests include walking and cycling standards.

Important Notes

  • Candidates must ensure they meet the specified eligibility criteria for the chosen category of posts.
  • Physical measurements (including vision tests) are conducted by respective departments, and only candidates meeting these standards will be eligible.
  • Requests for allotment to other posts/categories will not be entertained if candidates fail to meet physical requirements.
